Is there a way so that books you've had shipped to you not to show?

Hmmm Shelly...I'm not sure I understand your question. Browsing books where? Like if you are searching for Charlaine Harris books, you wouldn't like to get in the search the books written by her that you have already received?

Are you referring to the books suggest to you on your homepage? If so, when you put a book on your "Books I've Read" list they will not be suggested to you again. However this is not a perfect system, and other versions (hardback, paperback, mass market) will still show up.

You would modify this setting in your Privacy Controls.  To do this, click on My Account at the top of any page, then click on blue Settings link from the dropdown menu.  Once on your Settings page, click on Privacy Controls link at the top right side of the yellow bar at the top of the page.

You can set the viewable parts of your profile here.  The section pertaining to the books you've received is under the Lists section.

ETA:  I was guessing that you were referring to the section of your profile page that showed number of books sent/received, and I thought this is what you didn't want displayed.  Since I just realized that you don't have a profile set up yet, I don't think your question is about this section after all...  I'll leave up these instructions for others who may find them useful...

Sorry I was so vague. Sometimes I forget people can't read my mind!

When I go to search and choose book browser on the dropdown menu. I like to listen to audiobooks so I only check that one. And I put Biographies in the genre. Then submit. Almost every one that I've had sent to me at some point comes up. If I put them on the 'books I've read' will they not show up?

Shelly, thanks for clearing that up for me.  I don't think that there is any way to stop the books you've already read from showing up on this Search.  Unfortunately, putting these books on the Books I've Read list doesn't help with this.

It's a great idea, though, it should be submitted as feedback for them to consider adding this feature to help make the Book Browswer function more useful.  The PBS team is great, they've implemented many member suggestions to the site!  Maybe this one could also be added...

It should tell you that it's on your Transaction Archive though. It says whatever list it is on, WL, RL, etc. That way if you see it then you know it's one you've already ordered.

Here's an example of a book I ordered a couple years ago:

Book Type: Paperback
Publication Date: 2005
On My: Bookshelf, BIR, Transaction Archive

So it's shows it's on my Bookshelf (not currently posted though), BIR, and Transaction Archive. I figure that's the current way PBS has it set up so you know if you've already read or received a book.

ETA: I don't know if it looks odd to anyone else but for some reason copying and pasting that bit from the book listing has made my post look a bit funky.

Yes, if you have a book that's on any of your current lists--Transaction Archive, Wishlist, TBR, BIR (Books I've Read) it will show that in the book details. This is why I put books that I obtain from other sources on my TBR here, too--it shows me not to be a doofus and order it again. LOL

I put notes on books that I've ordered.  So the bright note shows up when you see the cover.  This is great for large series.

Thanks for the info everyone. I was hoping it would weed them out completely so I wouldn't even see them.

I agree it would be a nice feature of Search. If you do end up requesting it, ask them if it can be turned on/off, though. I can see how someone might want to search for a book they read and if they always exclude books you've read from the results .... well, that could be annoying too. :)
