Good teen read! It was fine from the beginning, but it really took off in the middle. I love that Jess isn't a cookie-cutter character! All the characters were interesting, and the storyline was fun -- I'm going to happily continue with this series! (The "Grits" vs "Townies" thing made me roll my eyes a bit though.)
I found this book to be pretty intense and really well written. Cabot was able to get into Jess's character really well (which is important in a first person narrative, of course). And it seems like things are wrapped up neatly in the end - until you read the memo. I'm looking forward to reading more books in this series.
I love this INTIRE series! They are must reads!

Book 1: When Lightning Strikes
By Jenny Carroll(Jenny Carroll is Meg Cabot's Pseudonym
From the Back Cover:
Just because her best friend wants to exercise, Jessica Mastriani agrees to walk the two miles home from their high school. Straight into a huge Indiana thunderstorm. And straight into trouble. Not that Jess has never beeen in trouble before.
Her extracurricular activities, instead of cheerleading or 4-H, include fistfights with the football team and monthlong stints in detention--luckily, sitting right next to Rob, the sexiest senior around. But this trouble is serious. Because somehow on that long walk home, Jessica acquired a newfound talent. An amazing power that can be used for good...or for evil. Run, Jessica, Run.
If you like Meg Cabot's writing, you'll like Carroll's since she's the same person. It's another name she wrote under. It's also the first book in this little series. It's a really good young adult read!
I really liked this book, and the whole series.
First book in the 1-800-Where-R-You series.
