Search - When in Rome...

Funny and light. Another story about a misguided but mostly well-meaning young woman. If you like Sophie Kinsella's books, you'll probably like Gemma Townley's, too.

I really enjoyed this book and made me want to go to Rome. Also highly reminded me of Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn.

Fun chic lit book. Just what you would want in a chick book and for a vacation!!

If you like chicklit you will probably like this book. Me, not so much. I read this only because I needed a chicklit to complete a challenge. It's ok but Georgie the TSTL heroine is beyond stupid. After a two year relationship, she is dumped by a note on the kitchen table. She's now in love with David but after a chance encounter with Mike (the ex) her thought is "let's return to our boring existence". Huh? How can you be so in love and be bored to death at the same time. Anyway, when Mike starts chasing her, she's right there with him thinking he really does love me. WTH? Leaving David behind without a thought, she goes to Rome with Mike who makes her pay her own way and meet him a few days after he arrives. Again WTH? Can she really be that desperate?

When David unexpectedly arrives in Rome after telling her he was going to Geneva, she's surprised to see him but not in the least bit concerned in the change of plans or that she's staying in Mike's hotel room. I lost all respect for her when she further betrays David. I mean, she has a good thing going and she's ruining it for a possible relationship with the man who destroyed her. Are women really this stupid?

I had in mind two books that Georgie's story reminded me of: [book:Bridget Jones's Diary|227443] - the neurotic female, he loves me he loves me not syndrome; and [book:Can You Keep a Secret?|33724] - the woman with the job she pretends to be able to do but really just goofs off all the time as well as the company takeover and everyone losing their job thing. This is an ok book but certainly not an author I'd read again.

Very cute book. A quick and easy, light-hearted read.
