extend the time to accept books  - what about if you have a book you've mailed and that's the last day and you can't get on to say it's been mailed? Pat

I would assume you could contact them so they could allow you to mark a book mailed (or perhaps they could mark it mailed for you).

Generally, the system works on calendar dates and there's no extension if it was down for part of the time. They can't suddenly write new programs to say "if a book was supposed to be mailed between noon on 11/25 and 9 pm on 11/25, then add 9 hours to the time limit, otherwise leave everything the same". By the time they got all the code for something like that updated and tested and deployed, the 9 hours would long be over.

If you have a problem accessing the site because it's down and can't get online to take an important action, then the best thing to do is email librarian@paperbackswap.com immediately.

Sometimes the PBS team can make the system take an action for you. I.e. they can mark a book mailed if it's still within the time limit, and they can often cancel a new transaction if one is created because you couldn't mark a book mailed on time. If you do lose a credit due to the system having been down, then it's reasonable to ask them to replace it as long as you contacted them at the time.

I was very worried that a WL book I was offered would time out before the system came back up. I was finally able to accept it, but what would happen if it timed out before the site came back up? Do you think I would have been able to get my spot back? I'm sure that particular book would have rolled to the next wisher.

Yes, you could have gotten your spot back in line, though you wouldn't have gotten that specific copy of the book. You'd just have to contact the team and ask them to help you.
