Disappointing effort from Ms. Johnson. Set in Regency England, the hero is a scarred Waterloo survivor who becomes enamored of 'the most beautiful woman in England'. Their too-long conversations are too coy, contrived, and ultimately boring. Weak plot, shallow characterizations. It was so bland that I didn't realize that I had read this book last year - and didn't remember it!

I found the book to be slow predictable read from Johnson. At this point all of her male characters are the same.
Very good book. If you like Susan Johnson at all you will love this one.
