On Fire or Tablet....

Can you watch them anywhere?   Or do they Only play when connected to WiFi??

Netflix?  Amazom?

Example....  My son sees a dr that takes 1 hour per visit.  Can I watch a movie/tv show thru streeming at the drs office without being connected to WiFi at the drs office??

You can only stream if you are connected to wifi.

Yeah, you have to be connected to wifi or 3G to stream anything since the movie/ show / news isn't on your device. Just bits at a time are sent to your device to be displayed with no way to save it. That's why I buy the devices with the bigger memories so I can store movies on my device and always have them with me.

Barb, usually you can only download movies that you pay for or are on offer for free. I think you can download them through Amazon, but I buy mine through iTunes. You're buying to own, so you get a copy, not buying to rent, like Netflix, or just borrowing, like any of the TV networks that post their episodes. I'd look through the instructions for the Fire on Amazon and see how to save your purchases on your Fire. Should be like downloading a book, but just takes longer.

On other devices it all depends on what programs you're using to watch movies, the space you have on your device, and what you want to pay for.

I know that on Itunes I have the choice of different types of movie qualities, usually I get the HD (high quality) copy and it comes with the lower quality copy. We get the HD quality since we can watch the movies from my computer over our Apple TV, so want the higher quality for that. But I put the lower quality copy on my devices to carry around, since they're a *lot* smaller, but look perfectly fine on the smaller screens. So you'll want to read about all your choices to make sure you know what you're buying.

I went to amazon & after much searching Finally found a page explaining Fire & the option of "Watch Now" or "Download"  [cripe I wish they make their site more user friendly ugh]

I cant find a thing on saving movies on Netflix or Hulu+   I did call Netflix the CSRep said you cant save only stream thru WiFi.

Anyway this seems to be something Only Fire can do thru Amazon Prime....

Can I download to Computer then transfer to Tablet [not Fire] ???

You've never been able to buy digital moves from Netflix, or Hulu as far as I know. So that's not surprising.

And, AFAIK, that same with iThings and iTunes.

Not if they're DRM'd or in a specific format. Formats aren't interchangable between programs and devices. You'd have to find a way to convert them, and I'm not even sure you can do that legally.

But you should be able to Google it and maybe find out for sure.
