Christine and her older brother, Henry, grew up in the Delaney family as loves and nurtured as if they had been born to Elizabeth and Wynn. Now adults and facing life decisions, they both have come through major milestones in their journeys toward a stron, mature faith or their own. Henry had found the love of his life, and he and Amber are planning their wedding.
But Christine has borne the pain and loss of a broken relationship, and the healing of her heart and emotions has just begun. The war in Europe creates burther uncertainties for her, and she feels deeply perplexed as she tries to decide what she should do next. The "call of the North" and the warm memories of her childhood tug at her, making one young man's interest in her doubly attractive--but it also filld her with uncertainty.

I enjoyed the Canadian West series. I think Janet Oak is a fine author and I would recommend her books to anyone who enjoys a good Christian love story.

I love Janette Oke and I've loved this series, but this last book was very lacking. I didn't feel sympathy for Christine this time around at all. She was very whiny and at many times simply unlikeable. I was a bit disappointed in this volume in comparison to the rest of the series. It was worth reading to close the book (pun intended) on Elizabeth and Wynn and their children, but beyond that I didn't get much enjoyment out of it.

This was a nice conclusion to the Canadian West series. It kept you guessing. Just when you were sure you knew that Chrissy was going to end up with one young man, another comes to town, and then you think that maybe it will be him. A sweet love story, set in a time and place where holding hands was considered too intimate for a first date.

On Bach Cover - Christine and her older brother, Henry, grew up in the Delaney family as loved and nurtured as if they had been born to Elizabeth and Wynn. Now adults and facing life decisions, they both have come through major milestones in their journeys toward a strong, mature faith of their own. Henry has found the love of his life, and he and Amber are planning their wedding. But Christine has borne the pain and loss of a broken relationship, and the healing of her heart and emotions has just begun. The war in Europe creates further uncertainties for her, and she feels deeply perplexed as she tries to decide what she should do next. The "call of the North" and the warm memories of her childhood tug at her, making one young man's interest in her doubly attractive-but it also fills her with uncertainty.

This was great. As is all of Janette Oke books. I love the way that she writes and continues the story, to where you feel that you really know the charactiers in the books. I feel as if they are close personal friends of mine. When I read another one that continues some of the previous stories, its that much greater for me.

Not as good as the other books in the series but still a very good read.
