The cover says this author writes for young people. I enjoyed this book very much even though I'm 55. The story of Cynthia Ann Parker who was captured in 1836 by Comanches at Parker's Fort Texas and returned to her family in 1860.

True story of nine-year-old Cynthia Ann Parker, who was kidnapped from her home in West Texas by a raiding band of Comanche warriors. Twenty-five years later, Cynthia Ann, now known as Naduah, and her daughter are recaptured by Texas Rangers and returned to life among white people. Cynthia Ann has difficulty adjusting to the settlers' ways and hopes that her warrior son will find her and return her to the Comanches.

Very interesting book. The ending caught me a little by surprise; not in a bad way but unexpected.
