I have a large list of unpostables...far too many to fit in my siggy line with descriptions.  Do you think people would bother to look at my profile to see them?  I put a note on my bookshelf that there is a list in my profile.  In my profile I offered to mail out as many as someone would like with an order of one book.  Technically if they wanted them all, they would have 13 books arriving on their doorstep!

I would rather give them away then throw them away...it seems like a crime to throw away a book that can be read!  I just worry that it was a waste of time putting them in the profile.

Any thoughts?  Would you bother to look?

Karen

Post a thread about them in the book bazaar, or post them to the already existing unpostables thread. Just don't put them in the "sticky" unpostables thread b/c that is for unpostables you are willing to send out free WITHOUT an order from your shelf.

You know there's a Damaged Books virtual Box.  You can join that and exchange them for other books.  That's what I've been doing with my unpostables. I was able to send several out and the books I've gotten in return aren't that damaged.  It's 2 credits join and you get those credits back when you don't want to do the box anymore.  They're just to insure that you honor the book requests.

On occasion, when I have an unpostable similar to a book that has been requested, I PM the requestor and say something like: "I have another book by the same author which I couldn't list because there is a 2" tear on the cover (which I have neatly taped). Would you like me to include it free with the book you ordered?"

Or, I have also said "I have a bunch of unpostable education books in my profile. You are welcome to PM me with the name of one you'd like included free with your order. I'd have to know before I mail on Tuesday!"

I have listed unpostables in my Public Profile, in a Notebook entry.  I have a note in my forum signature mentioning this.  Have had only a few takers from this.

When someone orders a book, I try to send them a PM offering an unpostable, and offering a 4-for-2, etc, deal, if they want to order more books.  I've had quite a few takers from this, probably more unpostables, but some deals as well.

I like your idea of putting a note in the new Shelf Header.

About looking at others' shelves.  I often check the profile when ordering a book.  Less often do I check a profile because of something in the forum signature, but sometimes...
