I was offered a WL book FIFO and accepted it.  The sender has not picked a date to mail by or printed the label.  The status is still "Accepted".  I went to my credit registry and clicked on Transaction Details to see if there was any other activity on the order.  On that page, it gave me a box to "Send a Message about This Request" or something like that.  It doesn't have the sender's name at the top like a PM.  Does this message go to the sender or to PBS?

Edited to get some of the details right!

When the status shows as "accepted", it means the sender has agreed to mail the book in 2 days.

  • If the sender clicks "I can mail in the next 2 days" the Status of the transaction on the request on the requestor's  account page will read "Accepted".

That would have been 5 days ago!  It was "accepted" on the 16th and I know they get two days after the "Mail by" date to mark it mailed.  But if they haven't even printed the wrapper, then I doubt they've mailed it and forgotten to mark it mailed. That's why I was looking around to see if it had rolled to someone else who had posted it.  It's not a book I'm terribly anxious to get, so it's no big deal.  But when I saw that message box, I was just curious who the message goes to.

There is no info on the recipient because it will automatically go to the other person in the transaction - in your case, it will go to the sender.

That's why I was looking around to see if it had rolled to someone else who had posted it. - Regardless of whether the label is printed or not, the system will not cancel the transaction and role the request to another person until the 2 3 days past the mail by date is over. Your request will stay with that person until tonite.

edit because I cannot read!!

Okay, so even if they click they can post in two days, they still get the full five days to mail, and then the extra 2 days to mark it mailed?  I didn't know that.  I thought if they clicked they could post in two days, they got the two days plus the extra two days.  Thanks for the info!

Sorry Christa - I misread it, I thought you said they took the 5 days option. If they accept with the 2 days, then they get 5 total days to mark it mailed. Your book should time out and move on to the next person (or go back to your WL) tonite.

Okey dokey... it's one of those "nice to have" WL books, not a "Hurry Up I'm Dying to Read That!" WL book, so it's not a big deal if it times out and goes back to WL.

Since you clicked on Transaction Details I am assuming this is the same screen that will be showing in your Transaction Archive once the book is received or times out. If so, then that would send a PM to the member. I have sent PMs from my Transaction Archive and the screen looks the same.

If the transaction times out and there are other copies in the system, your request will roll over to the next person with a copy.  Otherwise the transaction will revert back to your wishlist until a copy becomes available.  IIRC the book will be removed from the senders bookshelf, and they will have to repost later.

I was going to say what Denise said.  If there are other copies it'll just roll over.  I had one that went through four time outs before someone sent it.  Everyone was accepted.  It's difficult, for me anyway, to realize that it's moved on to another person.  You have to watch the dates.

It timed out last night and went to my WL, where I am #1.  I keep a close eye on my WL, so I know this is one that gets posted a couple times a week.  So we'll see what happens on the next try!
