The book was very good but not appropriate for the age group it suggests. I read it to my 18 month old God son, who loves being read to, and it didn't capture his attention. It is a very good book for older children 3 yeas and up.

If a psychologist said to me, "Think of the first thing that comes to mind when I say the words 'children's book'," THIS book is what would pop into my mind. I had a copy as a child and it was well-loved. It is now well-loved by my daughter. Wonderful illustrations, poetry-type storytelling, and puts to rest the notion that monsters are to be feared.

This is one of the best children's picture books ever! Poor Max! He gets sent to his room without his supper for being too wild and mischievous. While he is in his room he lets his imagination take him through time to another world, where he is hailed king of all wild things until the smell of his supper waiting for him lures him back to his room. I was already a parent when I first read this book and I remember thinking, "What?" "Send my boy to his room without supper?" "Never!" Max did get his supper though, and it was still hot! Great book! Wonderful illustrations! I recommend you read it or I'll eat you up!

This is still one of the greatest books. I remembered reading it several times in elementary school and when I saw there was a movie coming out, I was ecstatic. I had to get the book just for the sake of nostalgia.

This is probably one of the top 10 picture books of all time! It's a classic story written and drawn by one of the best illustrators of all time, Maurice Sendak. I saw the play based on the book at the Lyric Opera here in Kansas City. It was awesome!

I read this book as a child and I loved it. I have now shared it with my six year old Godson and he loves it as well. Amazing pictures. As an education major the pictures were very easy to ask questions about. Also the story allowed some great lessons as well!

This was a misrepresentation, it was just a folder not a actual book to read. I am sorry that I wasted one of my credits on this. It was for my grandchildren.
This has been one of my favorite picture books since it came out. As a children's librarian I used it often in story times for preschoolers - older kids like it too.
