Not that I'm trying to sound whiny,  but how long has it taken you guys to get a WL book that you were 1 of 1 for? I guess I'm just really excited for this book because I  put it on my WL on the 29th of last month and this is the 3rd and I was really, really hoping it would be posted!  So every day I come and hope it has been but it hasn't.  Dang it!!!!

Okay, whine over! lol!

It really depends on why you are going to wait.  Have ANY of the book desired been posted in the past month?  My experience is that if the answer is NO and you REALLY, REALLY want the book.....you could wait a LLOOOOOOOONG  while....... or buy it.

Earlier this year I  had over 50 credits and I have had so many wishlisted books coming at me that I am down to 13 credits.  And got a wl book today!

I am 1 of 1 for fully 60+ books but I don't expect to get more than 20 of them ever because they have never been posted, not even once.  I am not being discouraging, just offering my experience of now 2.5 years.

What book are you waiting for?  maybe we can help you get it quicker.....

Well a copy was posted on the 28th the day before I WL it, so I was really hopeful! :)  It's Entangled by Kathleen Dante.  I appreciate your fb and thank you for posting!! :)

Angie - Part of the problem here is that Entangled was published in 2006. MMPBs are posted in great numbers in the first 3-6 months after publishing. Same with TPBs and HCs, but not quite as many copies (due to the higher cost and the higher shipping). After that, the postings dwindle. This book will probably be posted only when someone decides to pull it off their keeper shelf to make room for something else. *sigh*

I feel your pain, girl. I've got several books that I've been in the #1 position for ages and ages. And several others where I'm further down the list but the line hasn't moved at all.

The WL "estimates" are totally bogus. They take the # of books posted last week and divide your position in line by that number. i.e., if you're at #12 and 1 copy was posted last week, then they 'estimate' that you'll be offered the book in 12 weeks. But that does not take into account the fact that there may have been no copies posted for several weeks or months before last week.

If you wish for a book and there is 1 other wisher, you take position #2. Someone posts a copy (the first to be posted since who knows when) and you move to position #1. PBS "estimates" your wish will be granted in 1 week! WooHoo! Yeah. And then you woke up.

Situations like that can make you crazy, but it can also make you thankful for this forum and all our buddies who give us a heads-up when they're about to post books that are WL'd. Y'all keep me sane!

actually I just hit the jackpot..I was several places down and someone posted the remaining 3 in a wishlisted series to me today...I guess I was farther along on one and maybe she saw the others..or maybe she saw something else I'd posted and decided to look at my wl..Id o that sometimes myself..out of curiosity I'll check out someone' s wl esp if their tastes sound similar and add some of their stuff to MY wl..I'm just glad that this time I had the credits..sometimes these 'favors' can backfire and send you scrounging around trying to buy credits LOL! but I guess I'll have to wait til they're actually mailed before I celebrate..and knowing my post office wait til they actually arrive!

it may take time with yours since they're trade-size erotic romance..I know I posted Hurts So Good a long time ago..was pretty good but not a keeper for me like a lot of my porn erotic literature! blush but getting wl all at once can throw a person in a dither esp if they don't keep  a lot of credits on-hand!

I feel your pain. That is where I am at. I have been in the 1 postion for Kylie Brant's Waking Nightmare for awhile. She was going out the door like gangbusters and then poof it all stops. Last posted since 4/13, sigh. I will get the book eventually, I am an adult and do have patience. :-)

Thank you Ms. Jodi for fulfulling another Wish though that was totally unexpected. You rock!

When I posted Entangled last week, it was the second copy in the system.  It was like 4 days before it was requested off my shelf.

I'm sitting at #1 for a few books that I expect will get posted.  Of course, it's been a full 6 weeks for the one I really want and not one copy posted.  Some day I'll log in and it'll be like winning a jackpot!

I've been 1 of 1 or 1 of 3 on some books for a loooooooooooooooong time (over a year).    I've broken down and ordered a few that I decided I was likely never gonna get and I was anxious to read them.

I've been #1 in a book for more than a year. This week, it finally got posted and then...it was denied because of my RC! (Which is for smoking homes only.) Now I'm resigned of never getting the book but I'm not too worried, 'cause I have a lot of good stuff to read. I have so many good books in my TBR that I'm never in a hurry to read anything.

This happened to me recently, too, and my RC is for dust jackets on hardbacks, the person denied the book even though it was a PAPERBACK!

ARRRRRRGGGGGGGG.

Ok, I just had to laugh at this.  How spiteful can somoene be?  I know some people don't like RCs and will decline just because, but to refuse a request on a paperback because of an RC on hardcover books?!?  Sheesh.  Maybe they didn't even read it.

My view on RCs are "when in doubt - send it."  If they have a problem with the book when it gets to them, the requestor can always send it right back to me and I will refund their credit.  But I am a nonsmoking/ nonpet/ nonchildren household so it may be easier for me to comply with requests.  Recently, though I have gotten several cast-off library books.  They are all in acceptable condition but obviously ex-library.  I haven't complained because they are books that I desperately want to read, but I am worried that I won't be able to repost them when I am done.

Good grief!  I didn't realize how many have been in the same boat for long periods of time!  I feel for all of you and hope you get your WL books soon!! :)

Me? I am small compared to the rest of you guys who have been waiting for a year or more.  My week feels very minimal compared to that!

ETA:  Took Hurts so Good off my WL since you said it wasn't that great.  Thanks for telling me! :)

surprise

Ex-library books are postable, as long as they met the site rules in other regards. (No water damage, stains, etc.)

But just FYI, if you ask a member to return a RWAP book, you have to refund them an extra credit to cover postage. And they can refuse to mail the book back if they want.

Willa's right, KJ. If you send a book that violates an RC, the requestor can request their credit back AND keep the book (they are not required to send it back.) If they don't have a problem returning it to you, then you would need to give them either a second credit or some other compensation to cover for postage.

So in fact, you could be out of postage AND two credits (in the event that the person returns the book.)This is to discourage members to violate RCs.
