Colonel Leo Branford is assigned to help Gabrielle Rochon smuggle gold to Wellington within her traveling circus.
Despite inheriting the traveling Cirque Equestre--France's proudest equestrian tradition-Gabrielle Rochon has no loyalty to the emperor who destroyed her family's way of life. Independent and headstrong, she pledges to help the British army, knowing her late father would have done the same. But her mission to smuggle gold across France within the cirque to the Duke of Wellington's headquarters in Spain is one the British won't let her do alone. (back cover)
Regency romance at the circus....
Set during the Napoleonic wars, Gabrielle Robichon has taken over the operation of the family's Cirque Equestre upon her father's death. She accepts a mission to carry Rothschild's gold to the English army along their normal southern route, but is astonished that they will be accompanied by an English soldier, whose job it is to ensure the safety of the gold. She knows his presence will draw unwanted attention and suspicion, but does not know the extent of the danger she and her brothers will face.
I had read this one before and really enjoyed. Of course I'll read almost anything with horses in it as part of the plot or that has anything to do with the Napoleonic wars. This is a good medium read.
