This is the last of the 11 book White series. I have read all the books in the series and this is a nice wrap up to the series. This book can stand on it's own but it helps to understand the backstory of Renait (Renny) O'Brien if White Flame, White Dreams and White Deception have been read.
Renny feels responsible for the murder of her father and step-mother. To try and take away some of the pain she feels over her guilt, she is bound and determined to care for her younger siblings and not allow them to be separated. But someone is out to harm the O'Brien kids and in order to protect them, Sheriff Tyler Tilly makes a decision to send the smaller children away. To say this âticks offâ Renny is an understatement. She is bound and determined to make life miserable for the Sheriff. This becomes a contest of wills, all the while Renny is realizing how much Tyler means to her although she does not want to admit it. A slow developing love and respect grows between them as they search for Renny's brother who all believe is in serious danger of dying.
An additional side story is the drama and love of Running Elk (Matthew, Renny's step brother) and the love of his life Brenna.
I highly recommend this book and the entire series. If you like historical romances, you will enjoy this book.
