As an avid true-crime reader I admire this book but cannot recommend it for general reading. It is well-researched and has a great deal of documentation, but the writing style leaves something to be desired. It appears it was intended to advance one theory or point of view of this particular puzzling crime. The crime itself (slaying of a young girl in her own home with others present and supposedly asleep) is gripping and tragic. The book doesn't seek to particularly personalize characters, but to give an overview of what evidence was discovered, what testimony and answers to questions were provided, and what it all means. For people who have closely followed the case this might be extremely interesting in learning how it all played out and why some detectives took one view, others another. For general crime reading I did not find it enjoyable. However I appreciate the amount of work which went into creating the book.
