Lady Syrah fell in love with Prince Jibril at age 13, but as a gangly teenager, she was sure nothing would ever come of it. Years later, her family's estate is taken over by her evil cousin, so she fakes her death and comes up with a plan to get everything back for her younger brother, Eben, who's still too young to assume control, and who also stole the spotlight with his antics. So they set out on a hilarious adventure that centers around kidnapping Prince Jibril and holding him for ransom so they'll have enough money to hire mercenaries to oust the evil cousin.

This book has it all...romance, adventure, and enough comic relief, thanks to Eben, to headline at The Comedy Store. Kinda reminded me of Nina Bangs stories, minus the super-natural elements. I loved it! Read it in less than 2 days. This was my first book by this author, but I would absolutely read more books by her. I'm searching now as I type hoping to find a sequel. I just loved Eben!

When Lady Syrah Dhion first met Prince Jibril she was 13 years old and lost her heart to him. When she next met the Prince she was 19 years old and was trying to gain back her family estate for her 14 yr old brother. Her family estate had been lost due to the actions of an underhanded relative. In order to oust this relative, Syrah needed large sums of cash to hire a mercenary. The only way Syrah could think of to raise the cash was to kidnap the Prince and hold him for ransom. Thus began a game of chess using those in her life as real chess pieces. Between Syrah's kidnapping tactics, her bullheadedness and her brother's tall tales, coupled with what Syrah sees as betrayal from the royal family, the plot has lots of twists and turns.
This book is full of humor, intrique, love and romance.
