I studied Reynolds Price at Agnes Scott College in the 70's. Though my memory is poor, I sitll remember his prose, his characters, his Southern style. Mr. Price was struck down physically long ago, and this book talks about coping with overwhelming illness and disability. It is a very worthy read, not to mention a true story.

An outstanding account of the life adjustments necessary as a result of near total paralysis. I recomment it highly, especially if you have a friend or loved-one (as I have) entering or going through this sort of adjustment. Another informative read is, HENTZ:OF THINGS NOT SEEN, by Harriet Hentz Houser,Macmillan Company, 1955.

The Chicago Trib said, "An achingly eloquent account of a four-year struggle...by turns stirring and funny, anguished and joyful."
Reynolds Price is one of our greatest writers, and can tell the story of his own agonizing illness and the roller coaster ride through treatments, therapies, emotions, and diminished physical capabilities, probably better than anyone living.
