I'm actually on hold with Borders customer service now as I have been for over 5 minutes. There are several $5 ebooks I want, available today only, and when I click buy and download it deducts the list price from my account, not the bargain price of $5. Any ideas why? There is no stipulation that I buy multiples to get this price. Help!

Still on hold, 23 minutes now.

Oh, wait... spoke to someone, quite possibly in another country, who told me I should try in 3 hours to download the books because they're still updating the site. What a rip!

Totally annoyed with Borders CS - I joined the rewards plus program around Thanksgiving and rec'd my $10 coupon, plus I had earned another $5 cert.   With rewards plus, they state that online orders ship free.  I spent over 30 minutes on hold two different times trying to figure out why I wasn't getting free shipping ... no one ever answered.  Decided to go to the store to make the purchases there, but their prices were higher than online.  Explained the situation and they couldn't help.  I ended up placing the order online last night so I wouldn't lose my $15 in rewards that were expiring yesterday, but paid $5 shipping...I'm still hoping to get that reversed, but I'm not holding my breath.  I also sent them 2 emails to which I have not rec'd a response.

Good luck getting your books!

Boarders is apparently having some problems.  See this thread in CMT http://www.paperbackswap.com/forum/topic.php?t=225174

I know for sure Borders was having problems as early as August 2010 with money.

I usually love Borders, but have not really had the need to deal with their CS.  I'm hoping they don't close - I really do like going to the Borders here...plus I am a new rewards plus member and hate the thought of being out the $20 membership fee!

Update: I did finally get the $5 ebooks. I've used my Borders Rewards and now I'm done with them.

Several weeks ago, I had to deal with Border CS over an online order issue.  My call was answered promptly and the worker I spoke with very knowledgeable and polite.  However, I have had nothing but problems with their website and ordering since Christmas so I guess things are going downhill fast.  I tried to buy an ebook for my smartphone yesterday and after a half an hour of trying to get it, finally gave up.

With all their troubles, I wonder what will happen to their ereader followers.

I think the web site problems have been there pretty much since the beginning. I've never been fond of the Boarders web site. I find it hard to browse in, searches are iffy unless you already know the exact name of the author, and they seem to have problem with coupons and ordering.

I've sent in a couple of suggestions to them about how to help their web site, like the fact that many of their ebooks don't have images, nor even author's names! Even on their new ebook releases. I told them that I was having to go to Amazon to look up the image, author and description of their ebooks, and they probably didn't want people doing that.

I got a polite reply in return. But I'm not sure they even read my note. They didn't sound at all keen on actually fixing the basic problem of book display on their own web site.

DH says he thinks they went dirt cheap on web site development, and don't know how to upgrade or fix it. I do believe that, because I've had a lot of trouble with the site ever since it opened. It just shouldn't still be that much trouble to get around.

I was in the Borders store yesterday and with the amount of people shopping and buying, it's hard to believe they are in trouble!   The line wrapped around 3 times and we waitedfor quite a while.   I did ask at the help desk about my shipping cost issue and he couldn't help, but said they just got an email from corporate telling them they hired additional help because they got slammed with Christmas orders....don't know.  I'm still going to keep trying to get my $5 in shipping back since that was one of the benefits of upgrading to rewards plus.
