Today, I did a thorough search of historical fiction and found loads of books I would love to read. I hit the 200 and am now needing to put these books on a reminder list.

If I take a book off my WL and move it to the R list, I will lose my place. I mention this because I thought of moving books that have higher wait time to the R list and then moving those lower wait time books from my R list to my WL list. Gawd that all sounds so confusing! hahahaha

When the new wishlist is implemented it won't matter any more because the wishlist will be unlimited.

There's going to be a new wishlist? Will we lose our places with our books?

Yes, the WL will be changing at some yet-unknown point in the future.  Go to the help center and search for "wishlist" to read about it -it's too complicated for anyone to reproduce here.

The wish list here used to be unlimited, but it was causing problems and they reduced everyone to a 200 book limit a few months after I joined. The new, improved wish list will allow us to go back to having unlimited wish lists (among other things).

But add in having to rank your books as to what you want more.

My understanding is that ranking will be optional, and from playing with the numbers I figured out that if you do have a small (under 100) wish list it's very unlikely to benefit you anyway.

No you won't lose your place in line when the new WL gets implemented.  I wish they would do it already. I would love to just put my WL on hold, which is supposed to be a new option.  I have my account on hold right now because I need to stop the WL offers from coming in because I just have too many books, a house to sell and a cross-country move coming up.  I would love to be able to get some book orders though.  I hope they start it soon otherwise, I can't take my account off hold w/o having to turn down some WL offers.  So right now I'm only reading Swap and WL books that I don't have to put on my shelf.  So I can get those out of here at least.

"No you won't lose your place in line when the new WL gets implemented. "

This is completely inaccurate (unless you mean it literally - at the exact moment the new WL gets implemented).

You will lose your place in line when someone has more points than you. Points are earned on a daily basis, by the order of ranking - the higher the ranking, the more points earned per day.

So it's completely possible and even likely that you will lose your place in line soon after the new WL gets implemented - that's rather the intent - to shake things up so newbies can get books faster. And newbies can't get books faster without someone else getting books slower;  guess who that's going to be?
