I have a book that I posted on 7/22. I just realized today that I never put this book on BIR list.  I did that today and find out that it is waitlisted with auto request.  Would it take over a month for it to be requested from me?

Thanks everybody for all your input. I checked my book against the ISBN's on the various lists and all the numbers match the book I have. So it is obviously just a glich in the system.

What book is it?  The WL is tied to ISBN# so most likely you have a different ISBN than what is listed.  I can't help until I know the book you are talking about.

When you post a WL book it automatically gets offered to a wisher.  It has nothign to do with the BIR list.

I know the wishlist has nothing to do with the BIR list. But the BIR list shows a W when your book is on the wishlist. Like I said, although I posted the book on 7/22, I just added to to me BIR today and found that it is waitlisted with the ISBN I have. The ISBN is 9781401359652.

Debbie, I just put it onto my reminder list and it shows that there are 20 copies already in the system and none that have been wishlisted. Am sure there are others who could give a more accurate estimate for how long that might take to get requested, but it seems it might take awhile.

When I add that ISBN to my reminder list it tells me there are 20 copies available to order.

The audio and the large print version are wish listed.

If you click on the author name it will show you all the books and if they are available or not.

Edited to say:  Two of us posted at the same time.  Sorry

I just did the same this as the others and noticed that there are 20 copies posted.  When I searched the title and put WL only it pulled up hardcover and audio being WL. You could tag the hardcover with the ISBN of yours. But since there 20 copies posted already-my guess is they really want a hardcover version.  I wouldn't tag the audio.  People who WL audio tend to only want audio or they would have ordered one of the copies that's already posted.

If the BIR is showing a W then it's a glitch or you have a different ISBN on your WL.

Once in a while there is a system glitch where a W will show on a book on the TBR list when it really isn't Wish Listed. I don't see one on that ISBN now, but if you run into it in the future, add it to you Reminder List and if there are copies available, use the Contact Us link to let the site know of the glitch.

Okay, so now my question is regarding the BIR list, which is where it is telling me that it is waitlisted.  When you have a book on BIR list and there is a W there showing that it is waitlisted, is it the ISBN you read that is waitlisted, or is it that book in general that is waitlisted?

Everything is done by ISBN.  As Melanie said - maybe a glitch in the system?  Have you gone to the book browser -search WL, punched in the ISBN to see it comes up WL and how many do you see on the WL?  If everything checks out then I would contact PBS to see if there is glitch or you are missing something.  It seems a bit confusing but probably can be easily explained when someone can look at your account as in PBS.

When I put that particular book's ISBN in the WL book browser, it does come up, but doesn't show how many, if any, members are requesting it. When you put in a wishlisted book it shows how many members are requesting that book.

It's not WL. That ISBN has 20 copies posted into the system. If you get the Order This Book Button that means it's not WL.  It only give the Post This Book Option and a WL button if the book is WL or currently unavailable.  If there are no copies posted but no one on WL then it'll say Members Wishing 0.

If you add a book to your Reminder List it'll tell you how many copies are posted into the system.

It's just a glitch.  If it's bothering you, you can contact PBS and ask them to get rid of that W.

You can advertise the book in the Book Bazaar and tag the WL versions with the ISBN of yours.  Most likely the person wishing audio only wants audio.  I'm guessing the hardcover wishers also want that hardcover version or they would have ordered one of the 20 copies of the paperback. But you never know and it doesn't hurt to try.

Not sure if you've tried this:

When you are on a specific book's page, in the Book Information box (at the top of the page next to the image of the book), it will say if you have it on your BIR or your WL or Reminder list, etc.  So go ahead and input the ISBN of the book you've got in the search box at the top and look at that specific page.  If it doesn't say anything in the info box then you might have the wrong book type listed in your BIR list.

Or it could be a glitch ;-).

I would disregard the "W" or go and look at the book itself and verify through the reminder list how many are available.  I have several with Green Ws that are not WL but show they are.  I have learned to look them up individually to verify this.

I just discovered the same thing is happening with one of my recently posted books.  There is a green W next to it on my Books I've Read list. I was confused as to why it wasn't automatically requested. I was going to post a question here when I came across this thread. Thank you for answering my questions before it was even asked!  LOL  I'm thinking it's just a glitch in the system that puts the W's on the BIR lists.
