I don't remember having to constantly do this before, but for the last month or so, it comes up a lot.  I check the "remember me for two weeks" box, but I just had to log in again and I *know* it hasn't been two weeks since the last time!

I don't have anyone else using this computer, though I know that can be an issue for some.  I have cookies set.

I'm in Dial-Up Hell here and though I just have to live with that, it's really irritating to wait for that page to load.

ETA:  BTW, I'm not talking about the "Logging In" page that comes up after you've been idle for awhile and has the "click here" link if it takes too long.  I'm talking about the "front page" where you have to enter your email address or nickname and your password -- with the box that says "remember me for two weeks."

Is the browser on your machine set to clear cookies and history when you close the browser? If it clears the cookies when you close, that could be the problem.

Or if you are running a spyware program (one that cleans the spyware stuff out!) it will automatically take out your cookies.

We could be neighbors here in Dial-up-hell!  I have pbs on my favorites list, I click on it and then when the page starts to come up I click on it again and it skips the actual logging in part.  You might try that and see if it works for you, too.

I haven't changed any of my settings in the last six months.  And it doesn't do it all the time.  It works fine for several days, and then I have to log in with my email and password.  Then it works for a few days, and then I have to log in again.

Nope -- the login screen still comes up.

Darn it!

In addition to telling PBS to remember me, I had to make sure I told my Browser to remember my password, as it prompts me EVERY time I log in anywhere to ask if I want Firefox to remember this password and then I have a choice of Yes, Not Now, or Never, or something like that.

Do not click the Logout link before closing your browser or navigating away from PBS. This link deletes the "remember me" cookie. Also, make sure the bookmark you're using is for the page you really want to navigate to. If you bookmarked the login page, then that could be why you're seeing it so often.

I never log out. I have my account page on one of the first three tabs on my browser and it just always sits there.  It used to be that all I would have to do is refresh the page, and my account screen would come up.  Now, it takes me to the login page almost half of the time.

I have Firefox remember my password, so the login form is filled in automatially, but NOT until after the page finishes loading -- which the other day took four minutes.  It doesn't take that long for my account page to come up.  :-D

Okay...this has happened at another site that I am a moderator at. It's very technical so bear with me. Ahem,

Apparently cookies can become broken...yes, it's amusing, huh? Anyway, If you completely remove all cookies and start over (this means you will have to log in again) it should be fixed. if it doesn't work it could mean (and this is where I get a little lost) that part of the cookie - let's call it a crumb- is left behind as it is too small to be deleted like regular and will need to be manually removed. I will need to talk to someone more techincally savvy to figure out how one does that but let's try clearing your cache and deleting cookies.
