Why don't book sets get more than one credit like DVD sets?  It's Multiple books and an increase in postage because of an increase in weight. Should this type of thing be listed in the bazaar for money or multi credit?

Thanks

Each book in the set has it's own ISBN and can be posted separately.  Better deal for the sender to get more than one or two credits.  Why multiple books sets are just one credit?  I don't know.  I just ordered a multiple DVD set from DVD Swap with 13 DVD's and paid 13 credits for it.

Yeah, but the problem with sending them individually is that one or several of the books may have several copies already available with none or very little requesting.  So, you might have to wait a long time to get rid of something that as a set could go all at once because a "few" people are requesting it.  The one I have is a 3 book set that isn't available and 2 people are wanting it.  The incentive conditions for the set are great right now (compared to the individuall books) except for the lack of credit.

Thanks

You can offer your set in the Book Bazaar to try to keep the books together and get the credit per book. But because the sets often bear the same ISBN as one of single books contained in them, the system has no way to determine how many books are being posted by the ISBN and therefore how many credits to ask for so the system can only do 1 credit per ISBN for printed books.

The people wishing for the set may be wishing for it because they are hoping someone will post it for 1 credit for the whole thing. They may not be willing to pay a credit per book so looking at it as you are losing out on granting those wishes (or sending all of the books at once for a credit each) may not always be the case.

Thanks for the responses.  I'll probably offer it in the bazaar.  If I don't get any bites I might list them individually.

Happy Reading !,   Dale

The reason that multi-book sets don't automatically get multiple credits as they do on the DVD site is that the database supplier doesn't provide consistent information about the number of books in a set. Sometimes the number of books hidden in the title; sometimes it's in the description; sometimes it's not there at all. The DVD database contains a field for "number of discs", so SwapaDVD is able to use that. Unfortunately, there is no similar field in the books database.

The workaround is to offer the set in the bazaar, as you already concluded. You can ask for a maximum of one credit per book, but you're more likely to find someone to take the whole set if you offer a discount.
