updated more frequently? I know people are listing books all the time in the system. Why dont they immediately get posted on the site?

Tracey,

I have been asking the same thing.  When we had thumbnails on the front page, we could see the last 8 recently posted books.  I am hoping that if enough people ask, maybe this feature will be returned.

Robert addressed this a while ago:

The new postings now take between 15 minutes and a half hour to show up in Books Posted Today.

I wonder why though, why? I liked it so much better when the updates were constant and consistent. It was so much easier to check PBS when there was a few book instead of hundreds at a time. It is so frustrating when you have only a short amount of time to check and it says for 30 minutes or so... no books.... 0 books.

One day it was 45 minutes before there was an update and then there was 400- books to check. I was ordering many more books when the updates were more often.

SO, I just wonder why ithas to be this way now? Why the change?

The server crash of 8/20 disrupted the site in many areas. The delay helps keep the servers happily humming along doing their job and not crashing!

If the updates are batched in when the servers are idle, then it happens when the servers have spare time. Why not subscribe to the daily digest and spend today looking at the books that were posted yesterday? You can even go and look at a different hour every time you login if you like variety.

Tracey you might want to try the new "Under The Hood" feature. It doesn't have the thumbnails but it refreshes every 15 seconds and lists all the books mailed or posted. Here is a link:
