So is there sometimes an error in the sytem?  This is now the second time i've had a wishlist book (on my list over a year) and it is on auto request, was entered into the system just for them member to not accept it or send it.  It sits out here "waiting for member" and then falls off.  Right now i've been waiting for memeber for 4 days and it will fall off and i will go back to the queue. Guess maybe i wouldn't be so upset but the second time this has happened to me and its ok the same book!  Does this happen sometimes?

This has happened to me a couple of times and I know how frustrating it is. The first couple people who received your request may be inactive or on vacation and didn't put their accounts on hold. Hang in there - eventually someone will accept your request! I have seen grumbles here in the forums that people think waiting 5 days is too long (I agree).

Yes, Amanda. It happens sometimes. It may be that the member is new and it's still trying to figure out the site or it's just waiting until the last day to accept. Some people do that for various reasons (need time to read the book, etc.)

I had the same thing going on recently with a WL book.  It is frustrating to watch it time out or else the person says they  can't send it.  When I post a book that I know is on someone's WL I immediately respond.   I agree with some of the others that 5 days is too long, but do understand that some don't have everyday computer access.  Patience is the key for sure!

As a single full time working mother-I need the 5 days quite often.  If they reduced it, I'd stop trading on PBS.

It could be the same person and maybe they keep posting the book by mistake.  (new and not getting the fact that some books are WL and get requested quickly, trying to post directly to someone's WL but doing it wrong etc..,)  Or it could have just been a coincidence with 2 different people.

I know that waiting the 5 days can be frustrating, but I also favor the wait period, for when I'm the Sending member.  Weekends interfere with my PBS activities, and those 2 days away can wreak havoc on a PBS account if the deadline was shorter.  (I missed a number of WL book offers because of weekends until I finally broke down and put my WL books on AutoRequest and got the credits to cover any orders that come available, because WL acceptance is only a 48-hour window.)  I mail out books from my office, and I'm only there on weekdays.

Perhaps that wishlist book has been rolling through members for a while...I've had it happen to me, so it seems like they posted it and then walked away but in reality, they might have posted it a week ago and are not monioring it as closely since it's been rolling over. Worse case scenario -- you will still be at the top of the wish list.

+1

I posted a wish list book back in late December that took TWENTY-SEVEN DAYS to finally get accepted - I think it rolled over to the 7th person on the list! It was one of the top 50 WL books too so I was really surprised it took so long.

The same thing happened to me last month. I put the book on my WL at the end of December. The first week of January someone posted the book and I accepted it. The person canceled the request. Then the next week someone posted it again and this time they just let it time out. Not sure if it was the same person or what. Thankfully someone posted it again and it should be here this week. So I know just how frustrating it is for you and everyone else having to go through this.

5 days is not really all that long to wait.  You are getting an almost free book.  I don't have everyday computer access either; I probably check it every 3 days.
