This is a new one for me -- someone has put one of my available books on their wishlist. And of course, it is now on 48-hour wait for that member to accept the book. I am assuming it is a new member who does not understand how things work...does anyone else have any ideas why someone would do this? It baffles me!

If it was available, they could not have put it on their wishlist.  What may have happened is that they put it on their WL (before you posted it - when there were none posted) and then put their WL on hold.  They just took their shelf off hold and the request went to you.

It is not possible to put a posted book onto a Wish List.

The only thing I can think of, is maybe it was already on their WL, but on hold, and then they decided to take it off hold, and your posted book was offered to them as a WL book instead of a normal FIFO book. This is just a guess, though.

I've had my WL on hold for several weeks. I was just going through it today and one of hte books was on my WL but had 1 copy in the system.  I deleted it because my library has it and since I'm short on credits and postage money and WL spots-I deleted it before I unheld it.  But if I hadn't notice it the person who had that book posted might have come on and saw it on WL hold for me if it took me awhile to notice the WL offer.

Thanks for helping me figure it out -- it really had me baffled because the book has been listed for weeks and it was not the only one available -- I just could not grasp how it happened, but now I get it!

Or you certain it was the same ISBN? It could easily be the same title, but a different ISBN and not match your book.

Sherry she said she came on to find a book that had been on her shelf for weeks suddenly on WL hold for someone. So  it's the ISBN that she has.

I thought once more than one copy was posted that it removed the book to your Reminder List. That's what it did when I went on hold for 4 straight months while moving cross country and not wanting to deal with books and having a permanent address for a couple of months.  When I came back I had a few WL books moved to my reminder list.

Maybe all the other copies were ordered and when yours was the only one left it moved it back to their WL. Some books I've noticed in my TBR constantly come on and off WL.  A few copies get posted and then a short time later there is a very short WL, then a few copies available, then back to a short WL and so on .  Sounds like one of those books.

I am guessing like the others that it was someone who had the book wishlisted but on hold so when you posted it, it went to your shelf and sat there, and now that person just unheld the book..
