Then not mail it nor reply to the club...YET offer books in the book Bazaar at a deal? Its not one of those I was sick or my kid died or no puter....WTH I am half wanting to write her from the TA and ask why she couldn't have just written and said she was unable to send it and why even a lame reason is better than holdiong me up all that time while she rids herself of books in the Bazaar. I am just stunned she didn't have the class to write and cancel...or mail the book or even write and say opps you still want the book!!!   She we have proved she had no crisis she's posted on the site all this time...So why else would someone do this????? And I do not know her so its crazy ........

I wonder if maybe she's one that posts a book before finishing it and wasn't able to finish it?  Personally I've never done that because with my luck I would have some kind of problem (either not able to finish or damaged before finishing).  I wouldn't sweat it, you're back in 1st and hopefully the book will be posted again soon.

Sandy, was the wrapper printed?  If so, then perhaps the sender actually mailed the book, but forgot to mark it mailed.   If the wrapper was printed, you could send her a gently worded PM and ask if she mailed the book.  If it does arrive, you can mark it received from your Transaction Archive.

Here's another question for the book sages - why would someone post a WL book and then allow it to time out (5 days) ? Meanwhile I am happily anticipating , maybe even really excitedly hoping for the book and then ....no book. If I were prone to conspiracy theories, and I am, I might think people are playing with my emotions.

Maybe their kid got sick, car broke down, computer broke down, storm took out internet or they joined, posted a bunch of books without checking them out first and were overwhelmed with requests.

Whatever her excuse, if she was on PBS offering deals and didn't cancel or send the book, that was rude.  IMO   The OP said she was posting on PBS during the whole time so doesn't look like a family emergency to me.

I'd PM her. Maybe the book is mailed and she just didn't mark it mailed. Some people are flakes.

I was commenting on Lori's post as to why someone would post a WL book and then let it time out.

Thanks all I am just stunned at how ...kind of rude she is to do that. You know I am a pretty easy person and had she written me and said I didn't finsih it or something I would have said OK I will just wait mark it mailed.....but finish it then mail it.....and maybe thats too trusting ....but this posting of a WLed book marking it to be mailed on...(I do not know if she prints postage) then just blowing time on the site and offering deals seems just ...rude and vexing..Now my WLed book went to another person to send they have not marked anything..they had to post it and its WLed so it is on their account page..I am wondering if I will be burnt again..

I guess too what boils me on time out woman is......she is a silver member I think that means she gives credits to the club? But she can't mark the book mailed or write a PM and say oops!!!  She has to know the ropes...I wa afraid to pm her because the club cancelled the transaction...Thanks all I am just stunned

I would never even think to track a member down about a cancelled book.... and now I don't think I ever will as now you know the member was ok and not being even a little polite to send a note or anything. Normally we can smile and assume something just came up, no biggie, the book will come again some day but clearly this is eating you.  I hope you get a copy soon!

Yes this bothers me I offer ONLY WLed books and a lot of them...I do not get as many as I give and thus when I have one posted to me I look foreward to it...Today person number 2  that is suppose to mark this book SHE OFFERED or I would not have had it hit my WL and auto yes it...anyhow I was like what again!!!  This person I was curious now had their account on HOLD...Now I can't grasp why people at least don't hit can't send or whatever and then go on hold not just let me sit and wait for it to time out ......again :(  Its frustarting and over 300 people are on the wl for this book...I wonder if I should ask feedback to skip this member her account is on hold ...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't automatically assume the request will time out just because their account is on hold.  They may have the account on hold so that they don't get offered wishlist books but are posting books to earn credits.  Plus, they may be waiting the maximum amount of time to accept the request.

You are making a lot of assumptions without knowing anything about the situation of any of the posters of the books. The second poster may be doing what is very common practice - take their shelf off of hold, post a bunch of WL books, put shelf back on vacation hold, then wait for them all to be accepted before mailing. You are going to drive yourself crazy watching transactions and trying to guess what is going on. Feedback will not do anything, they will tell you to wait for the system to do what it is supposed to do, people are given exactly that amount of time to respond and no less.

Also, when I post WL books, I post in groups,a nd try to make only one trip to the PO.  And usually, at least one will roll over after the 48 hr waiting period, and sometimes again after that 48 hours.  So I sometimes wait until the last possible day to accept any requests I previously posted.  That way, I can wait through more rollovers than I could if I immediately accepted any requests.
