I just printed wrappers for two pbs, they both printed with First Class postage. Why not media mail? Each book is about 5.5 oz.

First class mail is cheaper than media mail for small packages.  I think the cutoff is somewhere around 6.5 ounces.

Truly? So this has been happening since the last rate change?  Cutting back on caffeine has not served me well. ;)

At the current rates, first class up to 6 oz. is cheaper than media.  Packages weighing between 6 and 7 ounces are 2 cents more (currently $2.15 for F.C.; $2.13 for Media).  I think most people are willing to pay the extra 2 cents for better service.

If your wrapped packages are 5.5 ounces, the first class postage is $1.98.

Yes, it's cheaper, with the added benefit that first class mail is allegedly faster than media mail!  It's a win-win!
