Second book written (1999) by Julia London and sequel to "The Devil's Love," her first book. Lauren Hill, widow of a Bavarian Count who was old, senile when he married her, has returned to England and her beloved home, Rosewood, which has fallen upon hard times. One day while she's trying to round up her large stray hog, Lucy, she literally falls upon Alex Christian, who was afoot after his stallion suffered an injury. Rosewood isn't far from Alex's hunting lodge so he visits Rosewood and Lauren daily and is just smitten with her. Something between them just instantly clicked. But she doesn't know that he is the Duke of Sutherland who is engaged to be married in a month or so..........He thinks her just a country girl who is beneath his prominent station in life but still falls in love with her. Such a bittersweet story of two lovers.........Julia London excels in this wonderful story.
