I think this was the craziest book I've ever read. We have an evil hottie, a good hottie, a fabulous cupcake baker, a wanna-be witch (and salesclerk), a one-eyed cat, a loony medieval guy and a crazy monkey. Oh and let's not forget the sin of gluttony.

There is a set of seven stones that represent the 7 sins and corrupt whomever holds them. The mystery is finding the first stone - the gluttony stone. The funny part is when Lizzy gets her hands on it and she can't stop eating or thinking of eating. This was hilarious and laugh out loud funny. I can't wait until the series gets to the sin of lust. Lizzy has it bad for the good hottie, Diesel. So far she's held off jumping him but given the way she reacted to the stone of gluttony, that won't last long if she gets her hands on it.

I really liked Diesel even though he is a serious alpha male and has to be in charge of everything. He likes Lizzy too and his reaction when she's eating everything in sight is priceless and he is so patient with her. Kinda seems out of character for this badass but it definitely works for him.

Had a lot of recycled motifs from the Stephanie Plum and other Janet Evanovich books - kooky secondary characters, off-scene deaths, fires, crazy animals, smelly accidents, gluttony, sexual tension, sexy cars, snappy comebacks, mild mystery plot. Felt like reading a Stephanie Plum book, but without the guns/police and instead with a supernatural authorities theme. I'd have rather had another installment of the Plum series, this was just so-so. I started skimming to get past some of the antics, wanted to finish it off, not sure if I will read the next book in the series.

Did not like this latest book. Couldn't find a plot or story line--it was nonsensical and the story focused way too much on the monkey. I love Janet Evanovich and the Stephanie Plum series, but Wicked Appetite was a total waste for me.

If you liked the Stephanie Plum series, you like this one! This first book is about the sin of gluttony, and the crazy forms it takes as Lizzy (think Stephanie Plum revisited)gets possession of it's effects in her attempt to find the charms that lead to the stone. It's not the plot - which is weak and predictible - that make this a good read, but rather the humor, which had me laughing out loud at times. It's a fun, take-your-mind-off-things book. As in the SP books, there is the funny girlfriend- side-kick and the 2 hunky guys, one good and one evil. You'll notice tons of similarities between the 2 series, but what the heck, it's just-for-fun, quick reading.

Wicked Appetite (The Unmentionable, #1) Janet Evanovich
Lizzy Tucker inherited an old house in Salem Massachusetts. There she takes on a job as pastry chef where she plans on leading a nice comfortable life.

Once there she comes in contact with a man named Desiel. he is on a mission and Lizzy is about to find out. He needs her help in stopping his cousin Gerwulf Grimoire. Gerwulf is set on finding the seven stones, that represent the seven deadly sins. The owner of each stone has a special power, and several of the owners end up dead.

Lizzy soon finds she is the key to finding the final stone, and she must team up with Diesel to stop Gerwulf. Fast paced fun magical read. Quite different from what i have read from Ms. Evanovich, but she pulls it off perfectly. I look forward to more in this series.

It was funny. I love J.E.'s books, but this one had a little more entertainment to it. Good read.

This was blah! I don't really know what else to say, 'blah' sums it up perfectly. Not planning on reading the next one.

I love the Stephanie Plum series and what Diesel added to that series so I was truly looking forward to the Diesel series. Sadly, this book was a disappointment. It has its good points, such as the relationship between Lizzy and Diesel, but the Lizzy's sidekick, Glo, seemed like a forced character. Not only that, but she's downright stupid and I grimaced each time she reappeared in the book with her book of spells that don't work.

I might give a second book a chance but do not anticipate that this series is one I'll be hanging on to.

I hated this book and was mad at myself for wasting time reading it. I love the Stephanie Plum books, although they are becoming a bit trite too, but his was too silly. I didn't care about the characters, didn't understand if there was a message in the 7 sins, and kept wondering what is the point of this book? I don't think there was one.

Lizzy is not equal to Stephanie Plum in pure laugh-out-loud humor, but still a quick sometimes amusing read. Throw together the usual mix of zany characters, a convoluted plot, and titillating sexual tension, and there you have. I've Wish Listed the second installment, so I guess I'm sucked in once again.

This book kept me interested even though it wasn't realistic, but I was disappointed with the ending. I guess it was left open for the next book.
