Rescued by the Comanche when she was just a child, Sunny Donovan watched in horror as an Army raid left almost everyone she card for dead. Only her young half-brother and sister survived, yet now they are languishing on a reservation. To free her siblings, Sunny made an impetuous bargain with the local Indian agent agreeing to track down a notorious bandit. But as Sunny heads toward Outlaw Canyon, she finds herself facing trouble of another sort -- a handsome rancher with the power to ruin her plans... and steal her heart.

Jake Walden is a wanted man. He's been causing trouble everywhere he goes and has left a trail of victims of his robberies and murders. He'll use any means to stay ahead of the people after him.

Those people include Matt Lanier, an ex-Ranger turned rancher who finds himself regaining consciousness in a covered wagon after tangling with a man he thinks is Jake Walden. Actually, he'd been tangling with a woman.

The woman he'd tangled with was Sunny Donovan, known to the Comanche Indians with whom she had grown up with as Morning Sky. She too was after Jake Walden, mainly to fulfill a bargain she'd made with the local Indian Agent to get her half-siblings off the reservation. In truth, her hatred of Jake Walden actually goes much deeper than anyone suspects.

Both want to be the one to kill him, and neither is giving up their dream.
