Not a bad book. I enjoyed the characters, the plot, and their journey of self discovery. Basically two girls who don't fit in at school gravitate to each other and become friends. Their relationship focuses on two important facets: writing and nature. Meanwhile they deal with families and the troubles that come with the individuals and along the way gain insight and wisdom.
My one quibble is that it seems every YA book I read that mentions divorce, assumes that it has to come. I would have liked to see some reconciling, the idea that people can become aware of their behavior and then move in a better direction. That issue was at least recognized in this book and developed, somewhat. For that I give the author credit.
Really a good book, only a couple mild swear words, and I'm glad I read it. I get picky about what my children read, but this one would be a good one.
