A wonderful story set in Dublin in 1399
Annora Picot is the only child of Dublin's wealthiest wool merchant. She attracts many suitors, but not a gentleman among them can make her forget the encounter long ago with a wild Irish rogue. She knows the law forbids them to be lovers, let alone to marry. She believes it's better to remain unwed, but when the king betroths her to one of his kin, she concocts a bold scheme to save herself from the arranged marriage.
Rian O'Byrne, an Irishman condemned to death by the English, is offered a chance to escape from prison. If he will 'kidnap' Mistress Picot, he'll be free. But freedom becomes unexpectedly complicated when Rian discovers he's protecting the English woman he'd once seduced and never forgotten. As Rian and Annora flee, they discover their reunion has not diminished their feelings for each other. Annora's fate lies in the hands of a man who swears she belongs to him forever.
