William Corey Dietz (born 1945) is a U.S. science fiction author who has written more than 30 novels, some of which have been translated into German, French, Russian, Korean and Japanese. In addition to more than 25 original novels including his popular Legion of The Damned series Dietz has written a number of notable tie-in novels including Halo: The Flood based on a popular video game, as well as three Star Wars books featuring the adventures of Kyle Katarn.

Dietz grew up in the Seattle area where he admits to being a so-so student, spent time with the Navy and Marine Corps as a hospital corpsman, graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Communications and worked as a surgical technician, college instructor, and news writer. Later he worked for what was US West in a number of different marketing communications and public relations related jobs before leaving to accept a position as Director of Public Relations and Marketing for international telephone company edge2net.

Dietz indicates that he discovered science fiction while in grade school and continued to read SF from that point on. He knew he wanted to be a writer at age twenty or so, but never got around to it until he was thirty-nine, which was one year shy of a self-imposed deadline of forty.

Dietz wrote War World (now Galactic Bounty) in 1984 and it sold the first time he sent it in. From that point on he continued to produce at least a book a year eventually becoming a full time novelist in 2002.

Dietz and his wife Marjorie live near the city of Gig Harbor in Washington State.
