Dr. William Stallings is an American author. He has authored textbooks on computer science topics such as operating systems, computer networks, computer organization, and cryptography. He also maintains as a public service the advertisement-free Computer Science Student Resource Web site.

Stallings received his doctorate in computer science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is currently working as an independent consultant.

He has three times received the award for the best Computer Science textbook of the year from the Text and Academic Authors Association.
