It?s the summer of 1969 in a place called Sweet Valley, Arkansas. Cherry and Baby are soon to be college seniors at the dinky university just a few miles away. . . . After over 100 pages I FINALLY gave up on this book. The story takes place in 1969 and the characters were in my age group at that time. I felt that the author rambled on about the characters and just couldn't get the story line to flow. I couldn't identify a true plot. If I read one more sentence about the pickle plant and/or how the two characters had to peel onions I would scream. Not my book.
One star was generous.

I was surprised when I got this book and started reading about thinly disguised landmarks from around where I grew up. That was a little of a distraction to me, but before long I got into the story and really enjoyed it. It is a "coming of age" sort of story set in the 60's. It's about small town living, family, friends, drugs, war, love and more. Worth the read.
