Hubby got me a new computer today (yay me!). It has Windows 8. I'm getting all my stuff reloaded on and the Kindle for PC app that loaded onto my desktop now loads as an app. I downloaded Calibre, got the plugins installed, and downloaded a free book from Amazon to try it out. But, I can't find the folder for the Kindle app in my Computer section (Old version- used to be able to move down the directory of Computer/hard drive/ downloads/Kindle or something like that and access my book fiels. This... I can't find where the app is stored to add the books to Calibre. Anyone know?

From what I understand, Kindle4PC 8 loads the books as fragments in the cache file. Not whole books, and not in .azw format.

The work around is either download to a Kindle itself, or install an earlier version Kindle4pc. Most people I've read about install an older version of the program and are back up and running.

I have an even easier answer for this now. In the bottom left corner of the Windows 8 screen is an icon that says Desktop. Click that and the view changes to regular old Windows. From that view, download the Kindle app for Windows 7 and you're good to go.
