The winner is An Arrow's Flight by Mark Merlis! FYI, there are 27 copies available at BookCloseOuts.com for $2.99.

Description from Amazon: Set during the Trojan War, An Arrow's Flight recounts the story of Achilles's son Pyrrhus, prophesied to be the soldier who conquered Troy. But Merlis's tale departs from the standard versions of the story: here, Pyrrhus is a go-go boy and hustler who lives in the demiworld of the gay ghetto and bears a closer resemblance to characters from John Rechy's City of Night than anybody in Edith Hamilton's Mythology. In its opening pages, An Arrow's Flight seems to be little more than a clever postmodern gag, but Merlis knows exactly what he is doing, and the novel quickly becomes a unique, emotionally overwhelming masterpiece. Merlis's historical and sexual sleights of hand end up thrilling and shocking by locating us somewhere between myth and history, between fiction and fable. The very themes and ideas of An Arrow's Flight shimmer and shift before our eyes: war, male friendship, Troy, AIDS, sexual identity, and Vietnam are all explored and elucidated. By the end, the novel resonates with beauty, intelligence, and empathy.

Description from PBS: The award-winning An Arrow's Flight tells the story of the Trojan War and Pyrrhus, the son of the fallen Achilles, now working as a go-go boy and hustler in the big city. Magically blending ancient headlines and modern myth, Merlis creates a fabulous new world where legendary heroes declare their endowments in personal ads and any panhandler may be a divinity in disguise. Comical, moving, startling in its audacity and range, An Arrow's Flight is a profound meditation on gay identity, straight power, and human liberation.

Cool, Genie!  Not one of the ones I ordered from VF, but it looks great!  I'll get my hands on a copy one way or another before September!  Thanks!

Cheryl, Did you pay for faster shipping? The reason I ask is I bought 2 books and paid $3.25 for shipping plus $1 for handling.

No, Genie. I just did the regular shipping and I think the shipping fees were the same as yours.

Right now I am trying to finish reading The Book of Air and Shadows by Michael Gruber before starting our August BOM.  Air and Shadows will be free to a good home when I am finished with it.  I bought it second hand and didn't notice that it has a few light stains on the outside of the pages so not postable.  If you would like it just PM me and I will send the book to you when I finish it.     TAKEN

This one sounds good! There is another of my wishlist books at BCO, so I guess I'll buy from there. I just hope I have the strength not to browse. ;-)

Cheryl, Sorry! Brain fart! LOL!

Thanks for sharing the codes, Valli. I think when I used a code in the past, BCO deducted the coupon before shipping. In any event, it's a great deal. Discounting the discounts!

So, are we to assume, Valli, that you actually bought all 17 books?  LOL!

No, I haven't actually bought them, but I do have them all in my cart. I'm going to wait until the wishlist book high has worn off and see if I still think I need all of these books in the morning. ;-)

Hahaha!! That is what I always have to do! I put like 20 books at a time in my cart on BetterWorld.com then wait a few days and go back and make sure I still want them. 99% of the time I remove all but maybe 1 or 2.

I have 32 books in my cart for a total of $181.94! No, I won't buy many of these. I'm going to look at my WL and see which ones are moving and which I think it will take a long time to get. There are only five books that I'm definitely planning to buy.

Hurray!  I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with the book cart disease.

An Arrow's Flight arrived today. It looks good. I'm going to have to lock it up so that I don't start it before September! LOL.

My copy arrived yesterday, and it looks like an awesome read---I'll have the same problem, Genie!  I'm excited about September's choice.

Just put a hold on it at the library today.  I should have it right at the end of the month.
