The backblurb of the book says "Spy Madeleine DuMais has been sent to England to help Thomas Blackwood break up a smuggling ring". After reading that blurb, I expected the characters to fall in love while risking their lives. Instead, I found a quiet hero who has loved the heroine since he first saw her, but doesn't know how to tell her. It's a great relationship story with scorching sexual tension. I highly recommend.

I love Adele Ashworth's novels and this is my all-time favorite of hers. Tortured hero and a bit of a mystery. Wonderful, very sensual romance. Outstanding character development and beautifully written. A definite keeper.

I have read several of the other books in this Winter Garden series. This book however stands out. I really enjoyed the slow development of the romance. It really worked well. I may have to reread some of the other books but I will be surprised if they compare to the enjoyment had from this book,

Wonderful book. Ashworth writes a compelling hero and heroine who are both flawed and vulnerable in their own way. Slowly building romance with a lot of sensuality that isn't graphic but more burning. Steamy when nothing happens but someone breathing on the other person's neck. Hand me a fan. I forgot how much I enjoy this author.
