Once again Jordan delivers a masterpiece in the 9th book of his epic, "The Wheel of Time". Book 9 sees Mat, Thom & Juilin seeking to escape the Seanchan-occupied city of Ebou Dar, while Rand has to juggle repressing Seanchan invaders while hunting down renegade Ashamen.
For those who don't know, Jordan's writing style is very similar to that of Tolkein. He crafts deep plots & richly detailed environments throughout his books. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loved Tolkein, or to anyone interested in fantasy. One area in which Jordan surpasses Tolkein (and I know there are many who would lynch me just for saying that!) is in his descriptions of battles. I seldom feel like I don't know what is going on in the heat of an action packed sequence.
If you're new to Jordan, then you really should start with book one of The Wheel of Time, which is titled "The Eye of The World". The series really is one epic story broken down into volumes which must be read in order.
Great book to listen to, sci-fi fans will love. There are 18 cassettes, in 3 cases of 6 each. Sequel to Path of Daggers.
This is one of the most riveting of all of Robert Jordan's books. More action than in 2 of his other books, with Rand trying to balance his new power, his new love life, and the all powerful Cadsuane trying to reel him in. Plus the problems with the Black Tower. Add to this, Perrine's wife is stripped naked in the snow and forced to march miles as a captive of the Aiel. The Seanchan has arrived as conquerors, and Matt has to contend with the Daughter of the Nine Moons, who will either love him or have him executed. This is a great book, and Kate Reading and Michael Kramer do it justice with their audio read. You will love this version!
I love this series. Every book has been amazing. Where most fantasy writers create a country RJ has created a globe filled with different cultures, customs and languages.
Great Series will be puttin as many of this series online. Read all 11 books out in about 11 weeks could not put them down.
Very good continuation of the story.
