Ancient Egypt after the death of the great Ramses. The story follows the young Paneb the Ardent as he hones his skills as stonemason in the building of the great tombs of the kings. A fast-reading glimpse into the lives and times of the ancients. It doesn't delve too deeply into character development or universal meanings, but it tells a good story.
I didn't think this was worthy of 4 stars. Sometimes it seemed a bit simple. I'd give it 3 stars.
