I have a couple books that are on members wish list, but they are not worth shipping at one credit each because shipping will be more expensive.  Any suggestions? can I ask for 2 credits for a book? Thanks.

Sorry, it's against the rules to ask for more than a credit per book.

You can go to the book bazaar and see if you can find someone wanting both books. That usually works pretty well.

Do you know you can send books media mail?  It usually cost about $2.50 per book.  Even hardbacks don't cost more than $3.

Sorry, but the Book Bazaar rules prohibit the offering of postable WL books.

Miya - remember that you can also order heavier and more expensive books with your credits so the costs will usually even out in the end.

Thanks! I looked up media mail and it was pretty good, so I have posted the books. Now, somebody will get a book they wanted.

Is that a new rule? I've done it often, though not for a while.

General Rules in the Book Bazaar:

(6) No trying to jump the Wish List "line" by offering or asking for postable Wish Listed books.  Postable Wish Listed books should be posted and swapped "officially".  This of course does not apply to posts advertising an alternate ISBN  (or non-ISBN version) of a Wish Listed title; it is fine to advertise that you have those posted to your bookshelf.

Can't get the editing to work worth a snot. This red sticky has been in the Book Bazaar since I joined. Not sure what went on prior to that.

Sorry to hijack your thread Miya. I am glad you decided to post the books and hope you come to love PBS. Hope you are finding lots to order and get that WL beefed up so that your wishes can be granted too!

Hmmm...interesting:

I'm assuming then that that rule only applies to the Book Bazaar forum, and NOT to the various genre threads where there are specific threads where people can offer wishlisted books they have available up for grabs to whomever sees the post first? (These are same ISBN books, not alternate versions or books that are on their bookshelves.)

If that is the case, I guess I'm curious as to why it would be okay to do that in the genre threads but not in the Bazaar?

Cheryl

That's what I've always assumed too Cheryl, if the wanted to enforce it everywhere, then they'd put the rule in the overall rules, not just in the BB sticky. I usually direct people to the genre threads when they post in the Bazaar. I can only guess that they don't care about the genre threads as long as they stay as limited as they are, in the grand scheme of things the books offered in them seem to be a small number.

Maybe because in other forums people don't seem to be asking for books as much.

I see it as more of a problem when someone posts "I want these books, help me jump the WL line"

than "I have these three books. Anyone have all three on their WL?"

It's easiest in the BB to just ban WL books for simplicity, but since it's the latter not the former that mostly occurs in other forums (at least the ones I read) it may be seen as less an issue?

Other forums are not supposed to have deals offered either--which avoids the "Order two books off my shelf and I'll post this one to your WL" or similar.
