Let's give this a try and see what happens. I (member A) will start by offering The King's Fool by Margaret Campbell Barnes. Read the instructions below if you are interested in taking part in this.

1.) Member "A" posts that he/she has a book to offer (e.g. The Tudor Rose by Margaret Campbell Barnes).

2.) Other members PM member "A" saying that the book is on their WL and they want it.

3.) Member A sends book to the first member "B" who PM's her, by posting it to member "B"'s WL, along with a list of the others who have PM'd her in the order they were received.

4.) Member "B" has a designated amount of time (e.g. 3 weeks) to read the book and then post it to the next member "C". If that book is no longer on "C"'s WL, "C" will be skipped.

5.) This continues until the book has completed the circle. If it is still intact, it may be posted to the FIFO WL; returned to the original owner; or (gasp) trashed.

If, along the way. some member decides to keep the book or it is lost in the mail, then that member will notify the others.

The thread can be used for numerous books.

Sorry, Jeanne - I just don't plan my reading far ahead enough to commit to this!

I know the feeling, Michelle!

Sharla has requested this book and I have posted it to her WL. Since no one else has PM'd me about this, If there is anyone else interested in this book, I am going to suggest that you PM Sharla (sharz96). We can take it from there. Any questions, let me know. Sharla, If you get PMs about this book and have questions, contact me - just make sure that you have the sequence of PMs in the order in which they were received.

I think it's a great idea. I think we should leave this thread going and any time a person has a book they'd like to share as part of a reading circle, they can just come here and post about it. Then, the first person to get the book will know that someone else may want to read it too and that person should be prepared to share it with someone else as soon as they have read the book, if another member has asked for it. Anyone that wants to read a book offered here should post in this thread, but if there are no responses, whoever has the book will know they can just post it to the site or send it back to the original owner.

I can see this thread as being a great way to share books that don't get posted often or books that are hard to find. I have a couple that I'll probably offer up as I read them.

I agree.  I'm hoping that if folks see that it works, we'll get some sharing of newly released or long OOP "keeper" books from our favorite authoris.  I have a few keepers I may offer, if I feel confident it's working, and I'll get them back eventually.

I am just finishing this book, and I heartily recommend it.  4 or 4.5. No one else has indicated they want it, but I'll offer it here again before elsewhere.

I think we already have a "test" run with "My Lead Dog Was A Lesbian" from Valli and going to Jeanne afterwards.

Perhaps we can put a note or something on/in the book with a log of the people it's supposed to go to and the dates received (to calculate how long the person has the book)?  And then have have a tracking thread here in the forum to check the status of the book?

As the middle person, I'm having some trouble getting the book read in a timely manner.  My second kid just stopped napping and I work at night now.  I'm glad the book is a thin one so I should be done soon (too bad because I'm just getting in to it).  I won't be able to participate in the Wish List Circle because I'm too slow.  =(

Can I just say that the Iditarod is a really, really looooooong and coooooold race?  Brrr!!!  =)

Why don't we just do away with the "time" factor and take the pressure off. I think that your ideas are very good Shannon and I think that we should implement them. If no one else indicates that they want a certain book, then the person who has it is free to post it.

BTW, you certainly don't have to rush on the Iditarod book on my account!! I might just be wanting to read about loooooong and cooooold come summer here in Tucson!wink

No worries Jeanne!  No matter how hard I try, I can only read at one speed.  =)

Oh Valli, what have you done?  I finally finished "My Lead Dog Was A Lesbian" and now I just ordered "Pecked to Death by Ducks" by Tim Cahill because it was listed at the back of the book and it looked interesting.  Looks like I found a new (to me) genre to read....

=)

Thanks for posting the book to me Shannon. Yes, this is the problem with these book referrals - a real domino effect!
