What does it mean when a book on my WL is on "hold" but I didn't put it on hold?  Does it mean the system is waiting for a response from someone who has the book available?  (I haven't put any on hold myself.)

I'm wondering, because one that's marked "hold" is already in the mail to me!

It's probably an alternate version of the one that was sent. The system puts other versions on hold so you don't get two different copies.

But what about the three OTHER books that are on "hold."  I'm nowhere near #1 on those!

I had that happen. I had two versions on my WL and when one got mailed to me the other automatically went on hold.

The other books, if alternate versions aren't being sent to you, I have no explanation for. Can you take them off hold?

Are these all the same title/author as the one you have on the way? (Some books have many different versions and some folks wishlist them all to increase chances of getting one.)

If they aren't the same book, and you yourself didn't put them on hold, it must be a glitch in the system, and I would notify the powers that be.
