I checked my wishlist numbers/place in line & LOTS & LOTS of them are now smaller than before... some are very significant changes!!

What happened? Did the numbers drop due to eliminating inactive members from the waiting list? It doesn't look as if it was due to shipping books because many didn't show a change in #'s filled/shipped.

Are there more changes ahead?

I think you may have just gotten lucky as mine are all pretty much the same.

Loads of my wishlist numbers changed too.  I keep notes on where the books are in the wishlist on each book and some of them jumped twenty or thirty spots from this morning.  (I know you would think I have better things to do with my time).  I actually plot the dates in Excel and do linear regression to predict when I will get books; it's fairly accurate and lets  me know which books to buy and which ones to wait for.

That's besides the point though....my wish list position changed huge for some books and not at all for others!  Any idea what is going on?  I am trying not to get too excited because I am guessing it is a fluke and they will be back to their old spots soon :-)

I see some big jumps too. I wonder if they did a systematic purge of lots of 'defunct' members or something?

What the?????    Some of my WL books show that I am 3 of 2 and 5 of 4.  One even shows I'm 1 of 0!   Must be in flux.

I just checked mine for the heck of it. Lots of books are about the same while some have changed by large numbers. I've moved up 20 or more spots on some books.

I came to the forums looking to see if anyone else had commented on that because I noticed the same thing. Some numbers have dropped significantly for books not even published yet. I have noticed in the past that this happens and then a day or two later the numbers are back up again but it has never happened for so many books at once.  I check my WL daily and track the numbers too. It is almost every book on my WL so I don't think it is vacations.

I had about 75 % move at least a few spots.  I think they might have purged inactive members...I hope so so I don't have to go back and change all of my tags again!

I'm not going to check numbers for a few days just in case, although I will probably go thru withdrawal. ::the shaking starts::

Just wanted to add my voice to the chorus.  I have a nearly full wishlist and I use notes to track where I am in line... lots of jumps since this morning.  I don't know if I am supposed to be happy for the progress or nervous that it is some kind of glitch in the system.

Also, I love to see that there are some fiends out there as obsessive about checking their wish list as I am.  "Look honey- we moved up a spot for 'The Savage Detectives'"

Well by Martha's numbers, there's an obvious glitch.

Most of mine I don't pay attention too, but there is one that has been cancelled on mine that had over 700 wishers yesterday and is now down to 632. [Yes, I keep a book on my WL that will never be published. I haven't maxed out my WL yet and its entertaining to watch how many people keep getting in line for a book that is tagged as CANCELLED.]

I think this points out to those who might wonder how we would react to being "fluid" in a system that isn't FIFO - that many of us do track our place in line and would notice and a huge outcry would be made upon going backward on the WL!! ;D   I only put a note on where I was on the date I put the book on my WL.  In the case of a book to be published I also put the publish date.  On the ones that are to be published I have moved a few places...but I am usually on the WL of those books at less than 10 waiting.  Any more than that I look for "bargains" elsewhere.    There are only a very few that I put on my WL that have large WL numbers.  A couple of those I have moved maybe 5 places.  So it may be a combination of a "purge" of membership and people putting books on vacation hold.  I'm glad for those of you who have moved many places on the WL !!  Like others I check progress more than once a week!

Ruth

ETA - Melanie - I have a couple of unpublished books on my WL that are questionable whether they will be published.  It's interesting as you have said.   I'm almost positive that one won't be published.  There's another couple of them that are available in Australian ISBN's only.  I doubt I'll ever get those either.  But I have them there to remind me to keep looking for the USA version whenever that info might be come available.

I pay little attention to my WL. I get them when I get them.  But this sounds to me like maybe they are tinkering with the website. The other day there lost of little problems and that usually means they are adding new things or working on things.  I'm thinking this because of the person who said their WL said they were #3 of 2 and things like that.  THe other day drop down menus weren't working and some other things.

OMG if they purged inactive members, that is so awesome! Or maybe they just put them all on hold without auto-request so they don't show up? I looked at mine but very few of mine have a huge number of wishers, so it was hard to see. There was a couple where I moved up a few spots, but I am near the front, and what happened is there are a lot less in line behind me. We'll see if this sticks, or if they're just messing around. :)

I looked a little more closely at mine and it has shifted!

I looked at my RL and the number of copies in the system seem to be the same, but I can't be sure.  I hope they've done a big purge of inactives!  That would be great.

What book is it Melanie? That's hillarious!

Not That Innocent
Author:
Sherrilyn Kenyon, Kresley Cole, Gena Showalter

Book Information

Publisher: Pocket Books
Book Type: Paperback
On My: Wish List
Members Wishing: 632
Rating:

I believe it is definite that this book will never be published. One of the authors flaked (Kenyon, I think) and a different book has been scheduled for release containing the other two stories.

Just to let you all know, I have sent feedback to the PBS team about this.  Will let you know what I hear in return.

Melanie, Not That Innocent is no longer being published but the book that is replacing it is A Deep Kiss of Winter by Kresley Cole and Gena Showalter. You can put that book on your waiting list.

I don't notice much change in my wishlist, but most of the books move so slowly anyway that only 5 out of 200 have any kind of estimates (of weeks till possible shipment). I did have two wishes granted last week, but snails move faster than my wishlist. ;-)

I got in the new line a lot faster than the old one :) Was well over 300th in line, now I am under 100th :) Looks like another person got in the line for NTI, hehehe.

Oh wow, this is amazing. I really hope it's not a glitch. The popular books I want moved up a lot and the rarer/out of print books almost all moved up a couple spaces! *Crosses fingers* please don't be a glitch.

Some of my WL books show that I am 3 of 2

Me too I was wondering what happened.

Looks like they've changed how the numbering shows up, so that it doesn't include accounts on hold that are not set to auto-request. I noticed I was "2 of 1" for a book, and as soon as I changed it to auto-request (and then hit refresh), I went back to "2 of 2".
