Hi,

I listed a book  that was on the wish list,  yet it has not shown up on my transactions. I was just wondering how long it takes to show up?  I listed a book on the wish list yesterday and it showed up right away. Just wondering.

Kathy

on your main account page do you not have a WL hold tab?

look at your bookshelf, is there a grey circle with an ! on it on the far right?  that means it is pending on someone's WL

what is the book/isbn?

Did you check by ISBN? It won't recognize it for the same title/author if the ISBN is different.

there is no one wishing for that ISBN.  In fact, there are 16 copies posted of that particular ISBN.

when I searched by author there are 3 different ISBN's that have people wishing for it, but one is large print and not sure about the other two...but unless they ask for your ISBN specifically it won't be requested from you.

I did just tag the other 2 ISBN that were not large print with your ISBN so perhaps they will order that one.

Kathy,

I have three books like that.  Sure is annoying in a way.  You know someone wants the book, you know it's the same and yet you can't let them know you have it.

Supposedly there's a way that PBS let's members know that you posted your book do they want it.  I've also heard that you can turn that feature off.  I haven't been able to find it to turn it on or off myself.  :>)

Add books to your Reminder List if you want to know the # of copies in the system.  :)

Unfortunately most of the time when the wish listed ISBN is for a large print book, that is the only version the requester is interested in...a LOT of highly popular authors are wish listed in hardcover but no one seems to be interested in the same books in mass market paperback (MMPB) version. I'm not sure how many people are wish listing the hardcovers for "keeper" copies, and how many simply are like me and don't like the tiny text in the MMPBs.

The book I gave the ISBN for,  isn't a large print book, though.  I took the ISBN from the back cover, so I'm not sure why it's showing up as a large print book.

No I think she's saying the one that's on WL is large print so they probably only want large print.

Usually when people WL hardback, large print or audio and there are copies of the paperback available then they only want the version they have WL.  Those people probably already know that there are copies in mmp posted.  Some people also collect specific cover versions for a collection. So when I have a book that's WL in other versions-first I check to see what versions are WL, then I check to see how many of mine are posted.  If say there's another mmp version posted and only a couple of mine available: I tag the WL version with "x # posted under ISBN".  I might do the same if there's a hardback WL and only a couple of MMP posted because someone in that line might no mind a paperback.  But if the WL is for large print or audio then I don't bother.

I have the email reminder turned off.  I WL a lot of audio books that are heavily posted in print and I got tired of getting 20emails a day.

Every now and then I see an oddball WL line for a book that has a ton of copies posted in a variety of bindings.  Frequently it's for one of those 5digit ISBNS that won't ever get reposted. I think some people do a search and accidentally do WL books only and that's what comes up so they put it on WL.

I saw a short WL line for the 13th Stephanie Plum book in mmp.  I looked and there are a bunch of mmps available in other ISBN's (one had 169 copies posted). So I tagged the WL one with 169 posted under ISBN.  I don't know if it'll work or not.  Maybe those people really want that cover version.  Who knows.
