Since I have been a member for a few months, I've noticed a few features that I'd like to see on PBS.  I don't know if the PBS VIPs read the forums, but I thought a suggestions thread would be useful.

Here are my wishes:

  • a way to transfer money between PBS and the sister sites
  • a button that you can click on to see a book's speed through the system, such as an average of 1 book ordered per month or an average of 3 books ordered per week
  • an eyeball beside each thread that I am watching
  • some type of symbol or different colored font showing which threads I've posted in
  • a sticky thread at the top of each genre forum where members can post deals specific to that genre

Anyone else with wishes or suggestions?

You would be better off sending the suggestions in by using the feedback under the "contact us" link below.

I have read that it is good to contact them directly, but I think it would be interesting to read others' suggestions and see if there are several people who have the same suggestions.  That way the powers that be can see that there are a lot of people wanting the same things.

I'd like to see deals stay in the Bazaar. But I do like the "Is This On Your List" thread in the different genre forums.  Maybe a thread for deals and a separate one for "Is This On Your List."

I would love to see a sort option in our TBR lists for books on wishlists. Then I would not have to keep scrolling thru my list to see which books I should be reading - they would all be grouped together.

The ability to get a PBS gift certificate for PBS postage.

Mary your RL should sort itself that way. If it isnt try clearing your cache.

I miss the option to drag and drop in the TBR. I used to put all my WL books first now I cant. When it was changed a bunch of people begged to get it back but so fat we havent.

I would like the option to add books to my lists and tags as a group of all the same title. A pop up screen asking "Do you wish to mark all books with the same title and author?" and a yes or no option to continue.

I would also like to see my lists and tags show when I am looking at a members shelf.

I would like to see how many people have looked at my bookshelf!

I would like to have books on my shelf that are pending in a not-yet-accepted BOB trade not be available for credit swaps. I HATE having books requested for credit just after I've promised them in a BOB but it hasn't been finalized yet.

I may be in a minority here, but I would like to see the 3 sites merged so that we can directly swap books for CDs for DVDs etc. like one of "the other sites" does.

Not that I'm complaining about the best site on web, of course.  I'm in agreement with the OP in that I would like to have some way of knowing if I've read the thread already.  If not, then maybe it could say "NEW " next to it so I would know that it is a new thread or contains new messages since I have read it.

I'd like an easy way to repeat my most used tags. And to have the notations about books (on my TBR, on my transaction archive, etc) to show when I look at other member's shelves.

The site is awesome, esp since it's basic features are free, but here are my "wishes" * I agree with being able to show books that are in a BOB swap (by hold or special mark or something) * I would also LOVE to be able to see where books on your bookshelf are in the FIFO line, like you can see where you are in line for your wish listed books. I know that right now you can put them on your reminder list to see how many are available, but it's more steps and it still doesn't show where your book is in line.

I want to be able to see RCs after you've accepted that you can mail a book--so you can double check them if you want to before you mail them out.

As Heather mentioned, I would also like to see where my book is in the FIFO line.

and I'm not saying I agree one way or the other, but I strongly suspect that our inability to see where our books are in the FIFO line is by design.

yes!  i don't think you can see them again until the book is marked received.

also, i'd like to be able to see my own RCs on for an order before i mark it received (or RWAP).  i'll turn them off for good deals in the Book Bazaar, and if i get a book that violates them it would be good to be able to make sure that i did in fact have them on when i placed the order.  (though mostly i remember to check before i put in an order.)

Probably what would be more useful would be the ability to choose whether you'd like to use your RCs for each particular order.  That way you could waive them for Bazaar deals without having to turn them off.

I'd love to have back the "On your: WL/Transaction Archive/RL" notes on books.  That was so nice, then it disappeared!

Being able to move money around would be nice also.  I don't use DC, but there are rare occassions I would have--if I didn't have to put in way way more than I need--and more than I'd have used by now.  But I have money on SaCD I could have used.

Ellen,

You can see what your requestor conditions were for any book by going into "Transaction Archive" and clicking on the blue link "request details" on the book in question.  It will tell you what your conditions were, if any, on that order.

I had no idea there were so many wishes/suggestions about things that never occurred to me.

I do love site and I would be happy with PBS & the sister sites even if none of my wishes come true, but it can't hurt to ask.  :)

right.  but your book/order is not in your Transaction Archive until *after* you've marked the book received.  i'd like to also see it in the Details available from the En Route to Me as well so you can double-check your own RCs before marking the book received (or RWAP).

it's there now.  i think it only disappeared for a little bit.

I'd like to be notified when a book I've requested goes to the next member posting it.  Several times I have requested a book froma  specific person (multiple order or as part of a bargain bazaar deal) and for whatever reason it times out and goes to the next in line when I really wanted that specific book.  I'd like to opt out of automatically getting the next FIFO copy.

In the forums, I would like to see a post bumped when someone edits it. Actually, this could only be in the Book Bazaar forum, because that's where I'd like to see it.

A lot of times you'll see a monthly thread "May Wishlisted Books with different ISBN's" for example. People may add or subtract books from their lists, but because it's an edit and not a new post, the original post is still buried. You have to catch them when they appear and watch them to see what changes people have made.
