Have you all been getting a lot of wishlist books since Christmas? I actually had to buy credits because I can't keep up. I love getting wishlist books, but I need to get some credits socked away again.

I'm excited about the one just posted though:

The Darling Strumpet: A Novel of Nell Gwynn, Who Captured the Heart of England and King Charles II
Author: Gillian Bagwell
ISBN-13: 9780425238592
ISBN-10: 0425238598
Book Type: Paperback

Has anyone read it? I can't wait to read it! I love Nell Gwynn. :-)

I had 2 come up as soon as I took my wishlist off hold after New Years. I also had 6 books ordered off my bookshelf that had been on there a loooong time.

Well, I had 4 WL books offered to me since the beginning of the year, but 2 of them cancelled after I accepted them!  The first one said she had an out of town emergency, which is okay.  But the one I just got today said "sorry, I accidentally promised this book to someone on another site".  How do you "accidentally" promise a book to someone!  It was a rather obscure book too, so it's frustrating.

Hopefully the WL books will keep coming for a while.

I had 5 wishlisted books post to me in the week between Christmas and New Year's.  I think that is the most ever for me.

I've had six posted to me too. These were just random postings, not from friends here. I've also noticed that I've moved up in line a lot on some of the books that had long lines.

Hurrah for after-Santa books!

Donna, I really, really need to read some wishlisted stuff, but my attention keeps getting grabbed by books with copies in the system.

Is that little black and white kitten yours? He's a cutie! He looks so much like a kitten I found and named Oreo.

I just saw that I got another wishlist book last night! This is so great, but I really need to focus on reading some wishlisted books and get them posted ASAP.

At least it was one I really wanted:

Daughters of the Witching Hill
Author: Mary Sharratt
ISBN-13: 9780547069678
ISBN-10: 0547069677
Book Type: Hardcover

Has anyone read it?

I've been offered three WL this year, and I'm out of credits now, with none in the pipeline.  I guess I need to read some of the WL on my TBR.

Vali, yes the kitten is mine, but he's not so litlle now.  He's 5 months old and huge and VERY bad. His name is Ozzy so it fits.  My dog passed about 6 months ago.  I miss him so much, but I didn't want to get another dog.  I live in an upstairs 1-bed apartment.  Anyway I got Ozzy thru a rescue group and he's sweet, very entertaining, but very bad!  I guess I just don't understand cats.

Donna, lol! Maybe the extra badness runs through the black and white kitties! My Oreo, who is about 6 months old, is just as bad! My husband says he is worse than our son was during the toddler years; Oreo is into everything! He is obsessed with getting into the dryer so now I've turned into a paranoid freak about checking the dryer before I start it. I've even checked it, started it, then had to run back and check it again; this cat is giving me OCD, lol.  When he's not trying to get in the dryer, busy knocking stuff over and causing general mayhem, he's watching and stalking our hands because he believes hands have one purpose...to scratch his head! He's gotten bad about biting your hand to make you pet and I need to figure out a way to stop that because it hurts!

Nobody understands cats. I remember when your dog died and I'm glad you found another baby to love. Not that another pet takes the place of the lost one, but it's good to have that furry love. Ozzy sounds like the perfect name. Can you imagine these two kitties together for a play date? lol

If you ever feel like sharing Ozzy stories, I'll always be happy to read them! I love rescued kitty stories. ;-)

Vicky, you don't have a big enough wishlist! I think yours is the only here where I don't have a single book on the list. I hope you get "Speckled Monster" though - it's one of my favorite non-fiction books. Just don't look at the pictures right after eating...seriously! Smallpox has to be one of the worst looking diseases, it's just awful!

Diane, I'm wishing you good wishlist book luck! I think I'm about to have a wishlist book go lost for the 2nd time. I'm starting to wonder if me and this wishlist book are meant to be....

I haven't gotten any! :o(  That might be for the best though, I promised my fiance I would curb my ordering a bit until I've made a sizeable dent in the books I already have. He's not a reader and doesn't understand my "bookaholism".

Valli, I think that's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me....

I was getting mighty depressed reading this thread since, unlike all you other lucky folks, I'd received exactly one WL book since Christmas. And then today, lo and behold, I received a gift from wonderful, thoughtful, kind, generous Jeanne -- Sea Witch by Helen Hollick. Thank you, Jeanne. You made me very happy.

Okay, my wishlist luck is improving--today I received a book I never thought I'd get--a  hardcover copy of Agatha Christie's Secret Notebooks which looks like it just came off the bookstore shelf!

Shucks, Deb - I just wanted to send you a little thank you for conducting the Secret Santa this year. It always makes me uncomfortable that the person who conducts it is left out. Glad that I could help lift your "depression" -as if you ever really get depressed! I hope you enjoy it - I thought it was pretty good.smiley
