Hi!  I recently posted a book with 4 members wishing for it.  After being on wishlist hold for a week, while no one requested it, it is on my bookshelf.  However, when I do a search, there are 4 people on a wishlist for it.  Why is that, if they didn't want it?  Do you get bounced off the wishlist if you refuse a books, as recently happened to me?

What do you think the deal is here?  Should I delete it and repost it?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Folks get 48 hours to respond to a WL book offer, then, either if they've declined during that time, or it times out (meaning they didn't respond to it at all), it goes to the next person in line, who also has 48 hours to respond, and then if they decline or don't respond after 48 hours, it goes to the 3rd person, and etc.  So, it sounds like your book went thru all 4 people and now after a week of sitting on 4 different accounts and timing out, it has come back to your bookshelf as up for grabs for whomever wants it now.

I would not delete it and repost it.  I don't know what would happen, but it may just go thru those same 4 people again and than back to your bookshelf.

Hope that helps.

edited to add that it seems odd that none of the 4 responded, but if your book was on hold for a week then the math adds up and I would guess that's exactly what happened.  It is quite annoying I'm sure.

edited one more time to add that maybe advertising it in the book bazaar would move it off your shelf.  good luck

Yes, and if it's a different ISBN, you can go into the Book Bazaar (under Discussion Forums) and let people know about it there.  I think most alternate ISBN wishlisted books get snapped up pretty fast there.  Also, if it's, say, a mystery, or a romance, you could mention it in the Mystery or Romance (or whatever) forum.

And you don't get bounced off the wishlist for refusing someone's book.  :-)

If all 4 people would have declined it, it would have been removed from their WL.  It does sound like the copy of the book that you have was only probably on one WL, and the member declined or didn't respond.  There may be 4 people on the WL for that title with a different ISBN #.  Did you search using the title or ISBN#?

It had to have gone to more than one WL to be on WL hold for a week.

Well, someone just requested the book and it will be sent out tomorrow.  I just can't figure out why they would not be put off the wishlist if they didn't request the book.

And yes, it was the correct book.  When you do a search and get the book page, you can see the number of memebers wiching for it.

Sorry, I misunderstood your question.  I thought you meant that you had refused a book, and you were wondering if your book was no longer considered to be a  wishlisted book,  as retribution.

If someone declines your wishlisted book for something other than requestor conditions, the book is removed from their wishlist.  You are perfectly right.  Sometimes I read things "crooked." :-)  So at least, as it cycles through the people who are not accepting it, you know you are "thinning the herd" by removing it from their wishlists.

And if someone requests your book, and you decline to send it, for a reason other than requestor conditions, it is removed from your bookshelf.

Right, that is what I didn't get.  It went back on my bookshelf and when I searched for it, I found that 4 people were in line.  Well the book is off tomorrow to its new home in the Virgin Islands.  I wish I could go with it.

When you searched for the book did you search by ISBN though--not title and author? Because if the ISBN was different, then those folks that were wishing for a different version perhaps didn't know you'd posted your book. It could have been four different people wishing for the version YOU posted and all either declined it or had the request time out after 48 hours of no response. I post wishlisted books all the time that go through several people before someone finally orders it...a lot of people have books wishlisted that they don't really want, apparently!

If it was the same ISBN...it must be a glitch. I know that someone else posted recently about there being a book on her wishlist that she didn't remember ever putting there, so things may just be a bit funky at PBS right now!

If the accounts are on hold at the time you post the book, they will keep their position in WL line. Odd to have so many people on hold on one book, but it possible...

The title, author and such might match but maybe the ISBN doesn't.  I had something similar happen recently. I had a book that I though had 30+ people on WL.  It turned out my ISBN was dif and there was actually 1 copy w/my ISBN available in the system.I posted on book bazaar, the other book was ordered and some people put it on WL.  But there were 30 people out there w/the same exact book (mass market paperback) waiting for this book and there was a copy available.  It just had a dif ISBN#.
