I know the help forums say that it is ok to post ex-library books, and that if people do not want them they should say so in their requestor conditions, but I still wonder if I should PM my requestor and let them know before I accept the request.  It is a WL book, so if they don't want it and I cancel, I have no way of offering it to the next wisher, right?

What would you do?

No, don't PM first. If there are no requestor conditions, and your book meets the PBS posting guidelines (a lot of ex-library books don't, so I always check those carefully) just send the book.

If you PM first, then you may not get a response in time, or the response may be negative and then you have no way to get to wisher #2, etc.

I agree, do not send a PM.  If they didn't want an ex-library book they should put it in their RC.  If they come back and complain, you can direct them to the help docs and say that these books are allowed and if the do not want an ex-library book they should put it in their RC.  as long as the books meets PBS guidelines you are fine!

If the site says it is ok, then unless they specifically say they don't want them, they are just as good as the next book.  Don't worry about it!!  LOL

Have a great day!!

The problem with PMing first: you are stuck waiting for them to respond. Then, because it's WL, you have to cancel so they don't lose their place in line, then repost the book, then they have to add conditions for No-Ex library books, you have to decline on conditions in order to get to the next person.   If they don't have ex-library conditions-don't worry about it.  If they make a complaint-you can reply by saying ex-library books are postable and they had no RCS about them.  PBS will have a record of that and the complaint won't count against you (unless the book has another issue that makes it unpostable of course).

Ok, thanks so much everyone for the advice.  The book is in wonderful shape - it must not have been in circulation long - so I will post it and not PM the requestor.
