The first book in this series really caught my attention. But the second one, The Gift was really depressing. The heroes were always getting captured and tortured and not showing much magic at all. This book was depressing most of the time and I was thinking if it didn't have a happy ending I would not be reading the next one. The ending wasn't bad, but I'm still not sure I want to read the next one in the series.

James Patterson is trying to copy ride of the glory of others. This is one of the worst books I have read. How many times can Whit and Wisty's parents and friends come back to life and save them. A cheap copy of the Hunger Games meets Harry Potter. Please get back to writing what you know.
